My first recipe: Ghetto-Gourmet French Fries

There were only 3 left to photograph...
My mom is always wanting me to write down the recipes for the brilliant dishes I occasionally make, and this one turned out really great, so here you go recipe-sharing peeps!

Ingredients:
About 4 or 5 potatoes, unless they are really small "screw it this is too small to peel even if I wanted to" type potatoes. I usually cut them in eighths length-wise, but it doesn't really matter. Sometimes I get distracted and forget what I'm doing and end up with all sorts of random shapes and they still turn out alright.
Some garlic powder
Some chili powder
Some dried basil
Some sea salt
Some black pepper
Some parsley
Olive oil

Preheat oven to 350.
Cut up the potatoes. Leave the peel on because you've maybe been drinking and there were only two band-aids left and you already just used one. Also, because my mom says the peel is where all the vitamins really are. She also said that cutting your hair during a full moon makes it grow back faster, which is total horse-baloney, but we still possibly have the band-aid dilemma, so just go with it.

Then you dump in the other stuff. Tossing everything in a plastic bag is convenient, but use a bowl and wash it out when you're finished if the environmental impact of plastic bags suffocating baby seals in the ocean is going to bother you while you eat. Use enough olive oil to coat the potatoes - I use about two shot glasses full. Then dust them with the other stuff. I season mine so that they look like they may have fallen behind the stove or refrigerator a few times. Use more or less depending on your personal tastes and how well you clean house.

Now throw them onto a cookie sheet and put them into the oven until you start to smell the garlic powder. Then toss them around and turn them over and put them back in until you're pretty sure they are almost done. Finally, toss them again and turn the oven up to 450 like a person who might have whinny kids who are "starving" and a husband who's on his way home from work expecting dinner. Take them out as soon as you start to smell the oil maybe catching on fire.

Enjoy your perfectly crunchy and healthy "french fries" and don't forget that ketchup counts as a fruit!
