Grocery Store Savings!

I'm probably one of the few people who get excited about going grocery shopping. I find it so satisfying to spend money, guilt-free, and having to do it on a budget actually gives my mushy brain something to work on after watching Barney and singing the ABC song for the 11th time in a row.

Aldi's is hands down my fave. It seems every time I go in there, I get to be a part of the most eclectic group of people you've ever seen in a 50x75 foot area. You get some pleasant Amish/Mennonites, some sweet grandparent-types, some white people in pajamas who smoke in the car, some college-age black kids shopping in a big animated group, a few middle-aged, rushed professionals, some special needs people with their helpers...and of course, the stay-at-home moms with screaming kids. The entertainment value and the bargains can't be beat!

Long story short, I want to brag a little. I had $100 to spend and my bill came up to $99.33. I'm sort-of a grocery store rock-star today. Here's to a young family of 4 eating like kings for 99 bucks. A hyphen below indicates what I plan to do with leftovers from each meal, an asterisks indicates stuff I had in the house already:

Roast chicken & Veggies
-Chicken hoagies with lettuce/tom/onion* with chips
-Pot pie (freeze half for later)
-Chicken soup with the bones

Taco crunch (with ground turkey)
-Turkey chili and cornbread muffins

Spaghetti and salad
-lunches

Pork chops with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes and beets

Brats and fried potatoes with corn
-lunches

Swai with Greek Salad

Lasagna and leftover Greek salad

-lunches

Meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans
-lunches

Bean and cheese enchiladas with rice and fresh pico de gallo
-lunches

Swai on a bed of noodles with parsley/basil/cheese sauce

On top of all this I was able to get lunch snacks:
Grapes, Cheerios, a cheese block, hummus, peanut butter and jelly, cottage cheese and peaches, chips and pickles, a gallon of milk and strawberry-applesauce. That's more than 2 weeks worth of dinners and lunches! Winning! :) If anyone wants my last grocery store list, I'll attach it below.
